Political affairs minister briefs Danish delegation on Jordan's reforms

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Khaled Kalaldeh stressed the importance of the constitutional amendments that were carried out in 2011 as part of the political reform process and for boosting democracy and thus enhancing participation in the decision making, leading to the formation of parliamentary governments.

At a meeting with a Danish parliamentary government led by MP Jacob Lund, the minister said that the government presented to the Lower House of Parliament draft laws, including the Political Parties Law, to increase their participation in the political process. Other laws, he added, included bills dealing with decentralization and municipalities that will also be presented to the Lower House.

The Danish official said the delegation would be meeting Jordanian officials and representatives of the Jordanian civil society institutions to come up with a decision on Jordan's request to join the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as a partner for democracy.

Lund praised the political reforms carried out by Jordan over the last two years and the role played by the Kingdom to achieve security and stability in the region in addition to its role in hosting refugees.
