S. Korean Daum Kakao net profit up 36 percent in Q4


(MENAFN) South Korea's top mobile messenger Kakao Talk's operator, Daum Kakao Corp., said its net profit rose 36 percent in the October-December period of 2014, Yonhap News reported.

Net profit reached USD45.9 million in the fourth-quarter period, boosted by stong sales from e-commerce platform, compared with USD33.69 million the previous year, the company said.

Meanwhile, operating profit surged 71 percent over the same period a year earlier to USD59.5 million, with sales coming to USD230 million, up 21 percent over the cited period.

The annual operating income jumped 42 percent compared to the year-ago period to USD189.47 million and sales for the whole year also grew 21 percent to USD813.68 million in the same period.
