S. Korea's Asiana orders 25 planes worth USD2.8b


(MENAFN) South Korea-based Asiana Airlines announced a USD2.8 billion order for 25 planes made by European maker Airbus to keep up with growing regional demand, the Peninsula Qatar reported.

According to the airline, A321neos valued at USD2.8 billion are to be delivered between 2019 and 2025 since the airline wants to take advantage on the rising demand from China's increasing population and attract more passengers.

Due to falling oil prices, Asiana logged a net profit of USD57.2 million in 2014, a pick up from a loss of USD104.6 billion a year ago.

The airline posted an operating profit of USD89.4 million versus a loss of USD10.21 million a year earlier. Annual sales last year rose two percent year-on-year to USD5.32 billion.
