HE Transport Minister Meets French State Minister for Foreign Trade


(MENAFN- QNA) HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti met Wednesday with Matthias Fekl, French minister of state for foreign trade, the promotion of tourism and French nationals abroad.

The meeting discussed aspects of mutual cooperation and enhancing bilateral ties in the field of transport between Qatar and France.

French Ambassador to Doha Eric Chevallier attended the meeting.

Following the meeting, the two ministers witnessed the signing of a contract between the new port project and French communication and security provider Thales in relation to security systems in the operational phase of the new port project.

Moyassar Jameel Al-Qatami, acting executive director of the new port project, signed the contract from the Qatari side and Jean-Marc Budin, Thales vice president for Middle East, Africa and India, signed on behalf of the French firm.

According to the contract, Thales will construct the infrastructure of the communication and security systems required for the operational phase in the new port project, fix all the equipment of security services in the projects, and fix the security systems of the watchtower, the control room and the quays. It will also merge and link the operational systems that it created to the port's operational systems.
