China's tourism revenue up 14.7 percent in 2014


(MENAFN) According to a Chinese tourism official, the country's tourism revenue expanded in 2014 by a percentage of 14.7 percent, reaching USD551 billion, Xinhua reported.

There were a total of 3.6 billion domestic trips made last year, an increase of 10.7 percent compared to a year earlier, deputy director of the National Tourism Administration said.

For the first time, more than 100 million Chinese tourists traveled abroad last year, an increase of 19.5 percent. Revenue from inbound tourism hit USD56.9 billion, up 10.2 percent.

The deputy attributed the tourism growth to main factors such as the global economic recovery, improved international airline capacity and favorable tourism policies.
