Asian Airlines swings back to profit in 2014

(MENAFN) South Korean flag carrier Asian Airlines Inc. said it returned to a net profit in 2014, as the weak yen and falling oil prices boosted demand for its flights, Yonhap News reported.

The cargo's net profit amounted to USD57.2 million on a consolidated basis last year, a turnaround from a loss of USD104.64 million recorded a year earlier, the company said.

Meanwhile, the cargo's operating income came to USD89.49 billion, a turnaround from a loss of USD10.2 million registered a year earlier, while its sales grew 2 percent to USD5.32 billion.

"Encouraged by the weak yen, passengers traveling to Japan, China and Southeast Asian countries steadily grew compared with a year earlier," South Korea's second-largest flag carrier said.
