February 9 2015 (Hong Kong): Today ecVision announced that Rick Darling Executive Director Government & Public Affairs for Li & Fung Group will be this year’s keynote speaker for the industry event it is facilitating on March 16 2015. This event SourceTrends 2015: Global Testing and Compliance Complexity the second annual program in Asia is co-sponsored by many of the industry’s leading service providers and non-profit associations. The target audience is those involved in product testing compliance and quality at apparel footwear and other soft line brands retailers manufacturers and major suppliers.
Mr. Darling’s presentation will focus on compliance and the effect of the issues in Bangladesh over the last 2 years and their relevant impact on the industry. Bringing out key points of the apparel industry’s determination to work within the guidelines of the Alliance in North America and the Accord in Europe his key discussion will be about how brands and retailers can use the learning of both to create an industry platform for compliance that is consistent and could be applied around the globe.
In his current position Darling oversees Li & Fung’s government relations public affairs and supply chain sustainability on global industry and multi-stakeholder initiatives such as improving worker safety in Bangladesh. Rick represents Li & Fung as an advisor to the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety formed by North America’s major global retailers and the Accord on Fire & Building Safety in Bangladesh formed by major European retailers and brands.
A full-day agenda is planned for SourceTrends with five panel discussions that address product testing regulations US customs and supply chain traceability. Each panel will be comprised of speakers from retail or brand organizations product testing or audit/inspection companies along with leaders from international trade associations from the textiles apparel and footwear industry.
The event is open to any retailer brand manufacturer or supplier working in the apparel and footwear space for a cost of $1400/HKD and lunch will be provided.
