Premier says Jordan needs int'l upport to fight ISIL
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said here on Sunday that Jordan has strengthened its role in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and repelled "the evils of this terrorist organization".
While meeting the visiting UK International Development Secretary Justine Greenin, Ensour called on the international community to support the country in the fight against the ISIL, according to a cabinet statement.
During the meeting, the premier voiced Jordan's thanks for the assistance provided by the UK in all domains, noting that Britain provided aid to Jordan and said this is important, but it is more important to urge the international community to support Jordan's war on terrorism.
For her part, the British minister said that Britain has allocated 100 million pounds to help Jordan shoulder the repercussions of the Syrian crisis, said the statement.
She thanked Jordan for hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, stressing that the UK provided aid to the refugees and is keen to help their host communities.
She underlined Jordan's important role in the region, promising that she would encourage Britons to invest in Amman.
