Egypt- Shoukry meets Kerry, discusses 'confronting terrorism'


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, met with Secretary of State John Kerry Sunday to discuss bilateral relations during the Munich Security Conference, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Badr Abdelatty.

The preparations for Egypt's upcoming Economic Summit in March were also discussed, as well as the fight against terrorism and several other regional and international issues.

Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt's position regarding several regional issues, including the Palestine conflict, the crises in Syria, Libya, and the situations in Yemen and Iraq.

Regarding terrorism, Shoukry reiterated Egypt's "unrelenting efforts" to confront the phenomenon in all its forms in an "inclusive approach whereby all terrorist organisations are targeted with no exception".

In addition, Shoukry met with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and discussed EU-Egyptian bilateral relations.

Mogherini reaffirmed Europe's economic support for Egypt in light of the "concrete steps taken towards economic reform", and further expressed support for Egypt's fight against terrorism.

Egypt's Economic Summit will present different investment projects, along with the government's legislative and structural reform plan that aims to promote growth, achieve economic stability, and improve the standard of living for Egyptians.
