India's domestic passenger traffic up 12.5 percent

(MENAFN) The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that India's domestic passenger traffic increased by 12.5 percent in December of last year, Gulf News reported.

In November, the country's domestic traffic had jumped by 14.2 percent, while in October, it soared by 16.3 percent. India's December domestic capacity edged up 0.4 percent on-year.

For the full year of 2014, domestic passenger traffic expanded by 8 percent, attributed to a revived confidence over the new business-supportive government, generating strong demand.

"Demand for the passenger business did well in 2014. With a 5.9 percent expansion of demand, the industry out-performed the 10-year average growth rate," IATA general director and chief executive said.
