(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Ban Ki Moon, in Riyadh to offer condolences on the sad demise of late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, said today that the world community has missed a great personality who left a clear stamp at the domestic, regional and international arenas, citing some of the great deeds of late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud aiming at bringing about world peace, rejection of terrorism and extremism, and solving humanitarian problems like poverty and hunger.
Speaking to the media at Riyadh Conference Palace, Ban Ki Moon Said late King Abdullah's initiatives have covered wide-range political, security, cultural and humanitarian areas all over the world as well as the development-related ones at home, descrying him as the pioneer of world's food program which fights poverty and hunger and his support for the United nations programs.
Casting light on his meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh earlier today, the United Nations chief said what he just mentioned about late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz was a reiteration of what King Salman said during the meeting.
He described the meeting as constructive as it tackled a package of regional and international politcial, security, humanitarian and developmental issues of mutual concern to the international organization and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirming that he is gearing forward for more cooperation between the UN chief and the Saudi monarch in the years to come, citing the identity of viewpoints.
He said he briefed King Salman on the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen to bring about order and peace to the empoveraged country following the recent development, saying that Yemen is in dire need to the support of the GCC countries to restore legitimacy to Yemen following the Houthis coup.
