China's foreign trade down 10.8 percent in January

(MENAFN) According to the General Administration of Customs (GAC), China's foreign trade dropped 10.8 percent to USD341.16 billion in January over a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

Exports decreased by 3.2 percent to USD199.78 billion, while imports plunged 19.7 percent to USD139.68 billion, making the trade surplus expanding 87.5 percent to USD59.59 billion.

Before 2014, the GAC mainly used the U.S. dollar in its trade data releases. It started to use both the dollar and yuan to denominate all trade figures in 2014 in an effort to promote the expansion in use of yuan.
