Judgment will be on the basis of justice, not whims: Ayaz Sadiq


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said that he has so far beared with 128 days of media trials and attacks hurled on him by Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan but still nothing has been proven so who does he ask for justice.

Speaking to the media after the hearing of the NA-122 case in the election tribunal on Saturday, he went on to say that he would never say something that would make him feel ashamed to stand in front of the PTI chief and face him.

He further said that the case was sub judice and neither him nor Khan were the judges. He added that the judgment will be on the basis of justice and not whims.

The NA speaker brought the reporters attention to an incident which had taken place 50 years ago when he had accidentally hit Imran Khan with a hockey stick while at school. "Khan sb this was an accident and I did not hit you on purpose," Sadiq said.

He also said that he would hopefully stay on as the National Assembly Speaker till the full completion of his term in 2018, adding that he thanks his voters, supporters, family and friends who voted for him for the third time from NA-122.

Earlier today during the hearing of the case, Sadiq said that Khan's allegations of fraud were completely irrational.

The speaker went on to say that Khan cannot present any solid evidence regarding rigging in the constituency.

Sadiq further said that the people of Pakistan voted for him and he will continue to work for their betterment.

On Friday, Sadiq confirmed that he would appear in the election tribunal on Saturday which was hearing the NA-122 case.

On February 2, Khan said that Sadiq should be suspended until results of forensic evidence of rigging in NA-122 he has submitted to the tribunal arrive.
