Qatar- Al Attiyah holds official talks in Munich


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met Stephen de Mistura, UN Secretary-General's special envoy to Syria, on the sidelines of the 51st Munich Security Conference and discussed latest developments in Syria.

Dr Al Attiyah stressed Qatar's stance on a political solution to the crisis to preserve Syria's unity and achieve the aspirations of its people. The Minister also met Frank Onstan, US envoy for peace in the Middle East.

In a separate meeting, Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam expressed thanks and appreciation to Emir H E Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his constructive role in Arab, regional and international arenas and discussed with Dr Al Attiyah relations and latest regional developments. Dr Al Attiyah also met his Albanian counterpart Dtmier Bocati and discussed ways of enhancing relations and topics of mutual interest. Qatari Ambassador to Germany Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi and Dr Al Attiyah's delegation were present.

Separately, Dr Al Attiyah met India's National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval and discussed means of developing cooperation in all areas and topics of mutual interest. Al Khulaifi and Dr Al Attiyah's delegation were present.

Dr Al Attiyah also held a meeting with youth leaders participating in the conference.

He expressed confidence that youth can find creative solutions to challenges facing the world.

The leaders expressed keenness to know more about Qatar and its increasingly prominent diplomatic role in international affairs.

De Al Attiyah gave brief overview of Qatar's history and Qatar National Vision 2030 and said Qatar's riches in the energy field puts a responsibility on it to deliver energy to friends across the globe. He also discussed progress in peace talks and latest developments in Syria and Iraq.

In a separate meeting, Dr Al Attiyah discussed with his Armenian counterpart. Eduard Nalbandyan, relations, means of enhancing them and issues of mutual interest.
