Saudi- Science Olympiad winners to be announced Sunday
(MENAFN- Arab News) The winners of a top contest at the Science and Innovation Festival (SSIF-2015) would be announced Sunday the organizers announced.
The jury concluded its evaluation on Thursday of 605 participants in the National Science Olympiad out of 762 students who presented work in 17 areas.
According to the organizers 382 girls and 380 boys entered work in the competition. The winners who will be announced at the closing ceremony at Princess Noura University on Sunday will receive SR700000 in cash prizes.
Meanwhile Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) a sponsor of the SSIF announced that entries are open for its innovation award which carries cash prizes up to SR10 million.
The award which is open to individuals and businesses in Saudi Arabia supports innovative ideas in the field of smart plastics and identifies promising future technologies for downstream development. The deadline for entries is May 31 2015.
Applicants need to submit their ideas relevant to the field of plastics and participate in either the SABIC Ideas Award or SABIC Growth Fund. The SABIC Ideas Award is a cash prize for those ideas with most potential that are still at an early stage of development.
The SABIC Growth Fund represents an opportunity for the applying individual or establishment to form a long lasting business collaboration with SABIC. The fund offers successful applicants access to SABIC's extensive resources including some of the world's brightest scientists and engineers.
SABIC jointly organized the contest with the Ministry of Education King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and Saudi Aramco.
