Saudi jailed fined for issuing fatwas


(MENAFN- Arab News) A special criminal court in Riyadh on Thursday sentenced a Saudi to a two-year jail term with a travel ban for another two years for issuing fatwas (religious edicts) against the ruler of the country and traveling to Syria to join an extremist group and fight there violating the government's ruling. He was also fined SR3000.

The court also found that the defendant underwent training in weapons. His detention during the trial would be deducted from the total jail time.
