Saudi- Habagat storms to Team of Week award in Globe Cup
(MENAFN- Arab News) Habagat produced the form that propelled it to the Team of the Week award during the 15th session in the Thursday League 12th Conference for Globe Cup at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center here.
Enjoying steady bowling Habagat compiled the top tally of 33 points on a night when the league top two endured indifferenct peformances.
Alliance in Motion Global in third place in the team standings behind Al Kabeer Frozen Foods and Advance Co. Engineers finished 5 points behind Habagat on 28.
Al Murajana D' Barkads and Jeddah 5KKB followed in that order on 24 23 and 20 points.
Lifebuoy was on 17 points with Al Kabeer and Advance Co. which tied for honors the previous week were deadlocked on 15. Bulacan Knight brought up the rear on 5 points.
Bonnie Garcia gave cellar dweller Jeddah 5KKB some reason to cheer when he clinched Bowler of the Week accolade after shooting the high series of 663 on scratch games of 223 226 and 202.
Habagat the Tagalog term for southwest monsoon went third-first-second for the three games contested on the way to the highest overall output of 3051 for a further 9 first place points that sealed the session's honors for Manny Tibay's team.
Four players went the distance for Habagat led by Richard Antonio on 628. Jimmy Aragones had 604 Rommel Cacampang 593 and Hadi Pacheco 564. Sharing the remaining three games were Ver Jasa 183-232 and Edu Toledo 202.
Archie Santos enjoyed a big game at Alliance shooting 655 that went with the 613 by Ruben Grino 591 by Cris Villavelez 561 by Nizar 154-163 by Frank Afurong and 180 by Ed Butardo.
Over at Al Murjana Jojie Manalansan missed 600 by a few pins on 594 with Tom Langa on 577 and Obie Ycasas on 519. With two games each were Ruel Santoc 217-202 Jay Bengco 185-159 and Steve Fragata 178-177.
