Eurozone's trade volume up 0.3 percent in December

(MENAFN) According to EU's statistical office (Eurostat), the retail trade volume increased by 0.3 percent in both the eurozone and the European Union (EU) in December, Xinhua reported.

On an annual basis, retail sales increased by 2.8 percent in the eurozone and 3.2 percent in the EU. The increase was attributed to sales in automotive fuel, the non-food sector and food, drinks and tobacco.

In terms of state members, the highest increases were registered in Ireland, Austria, Spain and Slovakia, while the largest decreases were in Portugal, Estonia, Denmark and Slovenia.

The average retail trade for the year 2014, compared with that of a year earlier, surged by 1.3 percent in the eurozone, while it soared by 1.9 percent in the EU, the Eurostat said.
