(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The President of the European Council Donald Tusk said here Wednesday that he held "open and frank talks on a number of issues of common concern" with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
"As regards European financial assistance to Greece, I stressed the need to find a solution acceptable to all Member States involved in the negotiations. Those negotiations will take place in the euro group. They will be difficult, will require cooperation and dialogue as well as determined efforts by Greece," said Tusk in a statement after the meeting.
"We agreed on the importance of unity within the European Union with regard to other key challenges facing Europe" he added.
This has been the first meeting between Tusk and Tsipras since the latter took office as Greek Prime Minister on January 26.
