Fresh air strikes kill 25 militants N. Pakistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 25 suspected militants were killed in fresh air strikes by military in northern Pakistan's South Waziristan and Khyber tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Wednesday.

A statement by Pakistan military's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the strikes took place in the Sanzila area of South Waziristan and Tirah Valley in Khyber region. "In precise aerial strikes, 25 terrorists were killed and seven hideouts were destroyed," the statement added. The strikes come a day after a Corps Commander Conference, chaired by Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, reviewed the implementation of the National Action Plan to counter terrorism.

Waziristan and Khyber are semi-autonomous tribal areas on the Afghan border facing militants' insurgency for last many years and the air strikes are a continuation of the comprehensive military operation launched against the foreign and local militants in the area.
