Gunmen storm N. Libya oilfield, kill 13 people


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 13 people, including eight soldiers and five foreign workers, were killed when Islamist gunmen stormed Al-Mabruk oilfield in the Oil Crescent region, north Libya.

The attack took place last night in the oilfield located some 170 km to the southeast of Sirte city, Maj. Hakim Me'zeb told KUNA by phone on Wednesday.

Yesterday 24 people were killed and 72 others injured when the Libyan army, backed by warplanes, repelled an offensive by Islamist Fajr Libya (Libya Dawn) group in the oil-rich region.
