Tunisian Pres. starts visit to Algeria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day state visit to Algeria at an invitation by his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The Tunisian leader was welcomed at Houari-Boumediene international airport by Speaker of the Algerian Council of the Nation (upper house of parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah and Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal as well as other senior government official.

During his visit, Essebsi will hold summit talks with Bouteflika on ways to strengthen "the historical bonds of brotherhood and the active solidarity between the Algerian and Tunisian peoples, and to further boost cooperation between the two countries for their mutual development and for the building of the Arab Maghreb Union," Algeria's APS reported, citing a presidential statement.

The two leaders will pursue consultations and coordination on issues of common interest, particularly in the Maghreb and the Sahel regions as well as in the Arab world, the statement added.
