UN to Launch Inquiry into Peacekeeper's Death in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN- QNA) The United Nations is set to launch an inquiry into the death of a Spanish peacekeeper in fire exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon, media reports said Thursday.

A senior UN official said on Wednesday that a fact-finding report by the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was already being prepared and its result would be presented to the UN Security Council in the coming days.

The members of the Security Council had condemned "in the strongest terms" the killing of a Spanish peacekeeper in Lebanon on 28 January 2015.
