BJP set to win all mayoral elections in MP

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The BJP was set to win on Wednesday all the four mayoral elections, including Bhopal and Indore, votes for which were cast on Saturday.

Malini Gaud, the ruling party's candidate in Indore, the biggest city in Madhya Pradesh, was leading by a huge margin of one lakh votes. BJP's Alok Sharma was leading by more than 42,000 votes in the prestigious election in Bhopal.

Only in Chhindwara, the bastion of former Union Minister Kamal Nath, BJP candidate Kanta Sadarang was set to win by a relatively slender margin of more than 9,000 votes. In Jabalpur, BJP's Swati Godbole was cruising home with a comfortable margin of more than 43,000 votes.

Wednesday's victory comes close on the heels of the ruling party's spectacular showing in December when it won all the nine mayoral elections. While sweeping the mayoral elections two months ago, the BJP had wrested four seats from its rivals.
