Five Drown in Bulgarian Floods

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Five people were confirmed dead, hundreds had to be evacuated and a state of emergency was in place Tuesday in Bulgarian municipalities hit hard by floods.
Two of the drowning victims, one of them a 9-year-old boy, were swept away while trying to cross a bridge in Ilindentsi, in the south-east, dpa reported.
Around 300 people in the area were brought to safety as rivers breached their banks following three days of torrential rain. A state of emergency was in place for the areas of Burgas and Sliven.
