Jordanian King says sad, angry at Kasasbah's murder

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordanian King Abdullah said Tuesday he was sad and angry when learning of ISIL's murder of Moath Al-Kasasbah.

Addressing the nation after an official announcement that Kasasbah was killed by ISIL on January 3, King Abdullah said he received the news with "sorrow and anger." He said this "cowardly" act was committed by a criminal group which has no relation whatsoever to Islam.

King Abdullah said Kasasbah, whose F-16 jet crashed in the Syrian city of Ar-Raqqah while on a mission over northern Syria some 40 days ago, was defending his country and Arab nation.

Intelligence asserted that the pilot was killed a month ago and that ISIL demands to swap him for Sajida Al-Rishawi, an Iraqi female on death-row in Jordan, were simply "stalling." The Jordanian government said last week it was ready to release Al-Rishawi but wanted guarantees that Kasasbah was alive.

Jordan is part of the US-led international coalition fighting ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
