Qatar- QCF to launch 'Career Ambassadors' for schools

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Career Fair (QCF), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), concluded its first winter Career Camp 2015 at Qatar National Convention Centre.

QCF focused on engaging young Qatari students and providing them with practical skills and tools to help them choose the academic path that best suits their interest and potential.

All 30 students were given participation certificates.

The initiative served as an example of QCF's continued efforts towards supporting QF in its mission to support Qatar's growth and development by unlocking potential among the young through projects and programmes and equipping them with skills and motivation for their future careers.

The event was attended by Fahad Saad Al Qahtani, Group Executive Director, Administration, QF, who said, "Since its establishment 20 years ago, QF dedicates efforts to developing education, research and society to realise Qatar National Vision 2030. It places Qatar at the forefront of nations as a knowledge-based economy by unleashing talents of Qataris and putting them to service within society.

"QCF works to realise QF's goal by informing students about their strengths, honing skills and placing them in the right direction to help them make the best decisions about their career paths. This is a vital choice, which affects one's life, family and society."

Abdulla Ahmed Al Mansoori, Executive Director, QCF, said: "QCF hopes that the students have benefited from activities and that they now have a better perspective of the future career they wish to take, assisted by skills acquired at interactive workshops and field visits.

"The camp is one of many organised by QCF throughout the year to prepare Qatari youth for their careers. We ask all Qatari youth to participate in such events and activities so that they can better prepare their future in line with the requirements of the Qatari labour market and participate in Qatar's development."

Visits to some of the leading institutions aimed to match participants' skills and education with real world work scenarios and acquaint them with employment opportunities. The visits also provided students with an opportunity to plan their academic and career lives.

QCF is preparing to launch 'The Career Ambassadors' programme for schools to outline career paths for students and enhance the role played by career guidance in choosing an academic and career path. It will also showcase QCF activities.

QCF is also preparing a Qatar Career Forum and Lecture Series to engage Qatari youth, parents, career counsellors, academics and human resource practitioners in discussions to raise awareness about career paths and upgrade the standards of Qatari labour force.
