Reports on Burj Khalifa fire not true say Dubai Police

Dubai: The Dubai Police on Sunday denied reports about a fire on Burj Khalifa as netizens took to social media with rumours.



In a Twitter message the Dubai Police made it clear that there was no incident of fire and it was formation of fog which was perceived my many residents as smoke coming out from the tallest tower of the world.



“It's that time of year the clouds gather around #burjkhalifa & trick us. It's just fog our beloved #Burjkhalifa is safe & shining!” said a message from Burj Khalifa retweeted by the Dubai Police.



Earlier social media mainly Twitter was fluttered with messages spreading the news that there was a fire on Burj Khalifa. Residents even spread news that ambulances and emergency services are rushing to the site.



Pictures spread by netizens showed the iconic tower surrounded by smoke-like fog. The news about a possible fire on Burj Khalifa started spreading by late evening on Twitter. The Twitter handle BurjKhalifa denied the news and was seen clarifying the report that there is no such incident.
