Bahrain to offer technical, administrative support to new Alarab news channel - Min.

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Bahraini Information Minister Essa Al-Hamadi said Monday the government would provide all types of technical and administrative assistance to the new Alarab news channel.

Al-Hamadi, making the statement shortly after Alarab stopped broadcasting regular programs hours after its first transmission from Bahrain, said the government would cooperate with the channel's management to resume transmission as soon as possible.

Alarab, owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, said on its Twitter account transmission has "stopped for technical and administrative reasons and that it will be back soon." Bahrain's Information Affairs Authority (IAA) media director Yousef Mohammad said that programing at Alarab satellite channel has been temporarily suspended for administrative and technical purposes.

He did not elaborate on the nature of these purposes.

"Support will be offered for the channel and we will brief you with any developments if there are any," Al-Hamadi answered a question in a news conference following a cabinet meeting.
