Bahrain's Investcorp profit grows 5 percent

(MENAFN) Alternative investment fund Investcorp said its net income for the first half to December grew 5 percent to USD45.3 million, even as it continues making investments in the US services and consumption-related sectors and real estate, Gulf News reported.

Fee income grew to USD156.7 million, driven by sustained growth in investment and placement activity despite a challenging market backdrop. Total deal-by-deal fund-raising in the Gulf was USD490 million in the first half of 2015, up 10 percent from the USD446 million raised in first half in 2014.

Total realization proceeds and other distributions to Investcorp and its clients were USD985 million in first half of 2015, primarily due to the successful realization of Berlin Packaging.

Investcorp also has a "handful" of companies in its portfolio of around 25 investments that are ready for a sale another company or private equity house or a stock market flotation over the next 12-18 months, chief financial officer said.
