Japan Airlines operating profit up 9 percent in Q4

(MENAFN) Japan Airlines (JAL) said its operating profit expanded by 9 percent on year, hitting USD385.7 million in the fourth-quarter period on increasing international flights, Oman Observer reported.

The carrier posted a net profit of USD335.03 billion, dropping 5.3 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, while sales edged up 2.4 percent to USD2.87 billion.

The company also revised up its net profit forecast to USD1.18 billion for the year through March from USD1.14 billion estimated in October and its sales outlook to USD11.41 billion from USD11.39 trillion.

JAL was relisted at the Tokyo Stock Exchange in September 2012 after going under with USD19.72 billion in liabilities in January 2010, Japan's biggest corporate failure outside the financial services sector.
