(MENAFN) Industry data showed that South Korea has posted a trade surplus with Japan in the auto parts sector for the first time ever last year, Yonhap News reported.
South Korea recorded an auto parts trade surplus of USD23.75 million with Japan in 2014, which came as Japanese carmakers widened sources of imports to lessen risks.
Korea exported USD885.14 million worth of auto parts to Japan last year, up 10.5 percent on-year, while its imports from the country contracted by 2.7 percent to USD861.38 million.
In 2014, South Korea shipped a total of USD26.64 billion worth of auto parts, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) said.
