Kia Motors sales down 1.8 percent in January

(MENAFN) Kia Motors Corp. said it posted sales drop of 1.8 percent in January, dragged down by fewer working days at some of its overseas factories, Yonhap News reported.

South Korea's second-largest automaker sold a total of 252,774 vehicles overall last month, dipping from 257,399 vehicles sold in the same month a year earlier, the automaker said.

Of the total, domestic sales grew 8.2 percent on-year to reach 36,802 units. Meanwhile, overseas sales stood at 215,972 vehicles, a decline of 3.3 percent from January 2014.

"Overseas sales were driven by such major vehicle brands as the Pride, Sportage R, K3 and Sorento, but fewer working days at some of the factories in foreign countries resulted in a 3.3 percent decline," Kia said.
