Nod likely for resident parents to sponsor kids


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization and Residence Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah disclosed new laws related to expatriates will see the light soon after completing and submitting a study in that regard to the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid for approval, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Jarrah explained the study allows expatriates (father and mother) to sponsor their children on dependent visa, and those who wish to do so will be charged special fees, noting the new fees will be rather high.

Al-Jarrah revealed that expatriates whose salaries are below the sum required for sponsoring their children must fulfill specific conditions, while certain categories will be allowed to sponsor their children according to the guidelines specified in the study to be submitted for approval.

He added residency and labor laws shall contribute significantly to eliminate the issue of marginal labor in the country, noting the laws will see the light soon. He also said the title of domestic laborer will be changed from maid and servant to house worker and housekeeper
