2,758 Lexus cars recalled in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in cooperation with Saud Bahwan Group (SBG) has launched a campaign to recall 2758 Lexus IS300 and IS300C cars.

According to PACP the cars are being recalled to install Smart Stop Technology a brake override system to curtail dangers associated with sudden acceleration. The models affected by the recall vary between 2006 and 2010 models and bear vehicle identification numbers (VIN) JTHBG262072000554 to JTHFG252XA2502109. Owners of these cars have been asked to contact the company.

SBG had recalled around 100 Lexus GS 250/300 cars in July 2014. According to PACP the cars were recalled because of a defect in brake pedal sensors which resulted in the brake warning indicator to light up constantly with the possibility of activating the brakes.

In September 2014 SBG recalled as many as 141007 Toyota and Lexus cars again to install Smart Stop Technology.

In the same month the group had announced the recall of 2272 Toyota Avalon GSX40 (chassis numbers U001002 to U078048) manufactured between October 15 2013 and May 24 2014. The recall was to repair faults in driver and passengers seats.
