Jordan, EU seek to strengthen ties


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minster of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, and European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, Saturday discussed bilateral ties and the latest developments in the region.



Judeh voiced Jordan's appreciation for the support from the European Union (EU), in particular the aid to confront the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on the kingdom.



The Foreign Minister spoke of the depth and strong relations between Jordan and the EU, pointing to a comprehensive rehearsal for the Jordan - EU joint work plan in line with kingdom's interest in light of the developments in the region.



The two sides discussed the importance of the collective efforts to resume peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis for the two-state solution and to establish a Palestinian sovereign state with the pre-1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the adopted international references and the Arab peace initiative.



Judeh reviewed the endeavors in fighting terrorism and extremism, pointing to the importance of cooperation among the various components of the international community to stand against this phenomenon.



Han stressed the importance of Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting peace and stability in the region and the EU's support for Jordan to ensure the continuation of cooperation especially in view of the common challenges faced by the two sides.
