State Minister for Media Affairs and the government spokesman, Mohammad Momani, said in a statement that Jordan did not spare an efforts to preserve the life of the Japanese hostage and ensure his release, noting that the government was in continuous contact with the Japanese government on this issue.

"The group has rejected all attempts made by the concerned authorities to secure the release of the Japanese hostage," he said, noting that this was a proof of the group's intent to use all means of terrorism and killing.
