Qatar- Rumailah Hospital marks Gulf Child Day

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Special Education Department at Rumailah Hospital celebrated Gulf Child Day with an event organised by Qatari Scouts and Girl Guide Federation at Cambridge International School.

Narjes Suleiman, Head of the department, said more than 20 children with special needs being looked after at the department attended the event held under the theme 'Paint my Smile'.

"This is the first time the federation has organised such an event and we are glad that our children joined others with special needs in the same age groups (KG1 and KG2) to celebrate the occasion," she said.

Suleiman said the event aimed to make children aware of colours and shapes and introduce them to the concept of blending colours to create an atmosphere of fun.

Other highlights included skits, dances, a puppet show, scouting activities, colouring, and mixing and blending colours.

Suleiman said the celebration was in line with efforts to integrate people with special needs and enable them to explore their capabilities and contribute to the growth of society.

She said the department is focusing on rehabilitation and learning efforts of children with special needs, especially those in preschool stages of three to six years. She said the department is supported by physiotherapy, vocational therapy, speech therapy and other departments.
