Maharashtra to transform Mumbai into a global financial recreation hub


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The government would host a conference next month where top business leaders from India and other parts of the globe would join government leaders in a bid to transform MMR.

Mumbai: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) into a global financial commercial and entertainment hub.



Fadnavis who recently attended the World Economic Summit in Davos Switzerland said the government would host a conference next month where top business leaders from India and other parts of the globe would join government leaders in a bid to transform MMR.



“This is the first step towards the Maharashtra government’s commitment of expediting the development of the MMR and transforming Mumbai into a global financial commercial and entertainment hub” said Fadnavis. The event to be held on February 6 will be in partnership with Mumbai First a body that promotes and supports the policy for the betterment of Mumbai.



The conference will see stakeholders across sectors such as infrastructure banking finance and urban development discuss key challenges faced by the MMR region and the concrete steps that are required for moving ahead. “We at Mumbai First fully share the chief minister’s vision of making Mumbai a better city to live and work in” said Narinder Nayar chairman Mumbai First. “We are delighted to be associated with this important event and will extend our full support for faster and timely implementation of the identified projects”.



The BJP chief minister spoke about the potential that the MMR — which includes besides Mumbai the satellite cities of Thane Navi Mumbai Kalyan-Dombivali Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar — offers for growth.
