Dubai — The Ras Al Khaimah branch of the Dar Al Ber Society (DABS) has distributed 39 packets of foodstuff to poor and low-income families in the emirate this month.
The monthly packets including basic foodstuff such as rice macaroni and frozen whole chicken without giblets are donated in collaboration with the RAK Public Prosecution RAK Customs Al Holi Contracting & Construction Company along with generous philanthropists.
Ali Abdullah Al Shehi manager of the DABS RAK Branch said the foodstuff packet scheme is one of many salient projects undertaken by the Projects Department of the society.
“These span the ventures of productive families building mosques digging water wells sponsoring orphans and so forth.”
These are apart from the foodstuff packets distributed in Palestine Syria Burma Egypt Lebanon Guinea Burundi Somalia Albania and Azerbaijan he added. “Up to 66 low-income families regularly benefit from the foodstuff packet project worth Dh23000” he said paying tribute to participating philanthropists who have made a success of the scheme incepted in 2013.
Al Shehi said the society has been making all efforts to help those in need all along its over 35-year history and ease the suffering be they in the UAE or across the globe. “The dociety which is dedicated to help poor Emirati families has also maintained and furnished hundreds of traditional houses in Umm Al Quwain Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.”
The government-run Dar Al Ber Society dedicated to relief distraught people carried out tens of charitable and humanitarian projects worth millions of dirhams locally and abroad in 2014.
Al Shihi said they paid cash and in-kind assistance to thousands of poor and needy families in the emirate and outside the country.
