UAE- Naidu gets into meditative mode


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) This is the first time that a state government will be working closely with a spiritual organization to incorporate yoga and meditation into its schedules.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chanadrababu Naidu his cabinet colleagues and top bureaucrats switched over to a spiritual and meditative mode on Thursday for ‘joyful living’ courtesy Naidu’s initiative.



In a novel move initiated by the chief minister himself over 300 people including ministers IAS and IPS officials have enrolled for the three-day programme beginning Thursday on “Inner Engineering — for joyful living.” It is conducted by Isha Foundation run by popular spiritual guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.



This is the first time that a state government will be working closely with a spiritual organization to incorporate yoga and meditation into its schedules. The government will also work on charity activities with the foundation an official of the chief minister’s office said.



Naidu will participate in an “in-conversation” session with Sadhguru on January 31 the closing day of the programme. The session on “inner engineering for joyful living” is expected to give tips on how to increase the happiness quotient.



“The programme is a team-building exercise which will give clarity of thought teach how to maintain work-life balance and increase the happiness quotient of officials. The chief minister believes that it will lead to improvement in governance and administration” the official said. The sessions will include preparatory asanas breathing exercises exploration of tools for inner balance and joy tools for translating inner well-being to external effectiveness. The sessions are said to increase efficiency equip officials with multi-tasking skills handle stressful situations with calm and clarity evaluate one’s personal values and life goals and improve communication and relationships through an increased understanding of others.



This will also establish a positive and open approach towards life transcend limitations and go beyond one’s fears live with a deep sense of inner peace and fulfilment develop a state of happiness and ease achieve a heightened state of consciousness and awareness of body and mind and experience each moment to the fullest.



The spiritual retreat for the virtual who’s who of the government comes in the backdrop of a plethora of challenges facing the truncated Andhra Pradesh.
