3907 lawsuits filed against Abu Dhabi govt entities


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The total number of lawsuits filed at the Courts of First Instance accounted for 2343 cases of which 1784 were filed against government entities.

Abu Dhabi: The number of lawsuits filed against the Abu Dhabi government in the last four years stood at 3907 official statistics have revealed. In 1744 other cases the government was the plaintiff.



Financial cases constituted 40 per cent of the total lawsuits involving the government; 30 per cent was related to cancellation and compensation; rent 15 per cent; and medical error 9 per cent. These figures were revealed at a Press briefing held by Counselor Hassan Salem Al Rashda Head of Government Lawsuits Section in the Eastern Region and Counselor Nasser Basaleeb Head of Government Lawsuits Section in Abu Dhabi. The total number of lawsuits filed at the Courts of First Instance accounted for 2343 cases of which 1784 were filed against government entities.



Rulings were issued in 3460 cases. Factors like delay in litigants filing a lawsuit and unavailability of documents contributed to verdicts getting delayed in the rest of the cases.



The Courts of First Instance issued 1783 verdicts in lawsuits involving the government of which 1338 were in favour of the government.



The counselors said the Government Lawsuits Section represents the government of Abu Dhabi its affiliated departments organisations and local government institutions and the companies owned by it or in which it owns not less that 51 per cent of the capital.
