Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre Hosts the UNs 2015 World Summit Award - Mobile Content Next Week

(MENAFNEditorial) For the 3rd year, Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) is hosting the highly acclaimed World Summit Award (WSA) – Mobile Content 2015 between February 1 and 3 2015 at the St. Regis Abu Dhabi – Nation Tower Corniche.

Through a shared vision of the UN's Millennium Development Goals that aim to cater local solutions to local needs and employ new technologies to form sustainable, knowledge-based economies, the hosting of this year's edition of WSA is part of ADSIC's ongoing efforts to strengthen tech-enabled growth through international knowledge-sharing and effectively accelerate the modernization of the UAE capital's public services through a robust e-government framework.

As the main WSA partner and the Abu Dhabi government body responsible for the emirate's IT agenda, ADSIC vigorously strives to align its global ICT associations with world-class events that further support its underlying operational objectives to continually support the UAE capital's 'Vision 2030' development strategy and provide reliable e-Government platforms to benefit all end-users residing in Abu Dhabi.

"This global event celebrates innovation wherever it's found," said His Excellency Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General at ADSIC. "In the UAE, we get to innovate on an advanced grid; we have a government committed to smart cities by offering effective platforms that interlink official entities, individuals and communities and provides fully fledged systems that are comprised of multi-leveled communication channels to support e-Governance. We are very optimistic about utilizing various digital tools to support socio-economic and environmental development and goals while applying innovative technological solutions to the benefit of all end-users in Abu Dhabi, at every level."

Event highlights include the 'Mobile Award Ceremony' on February 3, which will honor the 40 winning international teams of WSA Mobile 2014 and announce the 8 WSA Mobile global Champions 2015, who will be selected by a jury panel of subject-matter experts. The 40 global winners represent 30 UN member states from the Middle East, Western Europe, North and South America, Russia, Africa, South and East Asia. Award entries and subsequent nominations cover a range of key economic, social and business areas including commerce, government, environment, health, education, inclusion, empowerment, entertainment, lifestyle, tourism, culture and media.

As the only ICT award reaching out to the mobile community by honoring its content developers and experts in more than 178 countries, WSA focuses on originality, diversity and creative content through innovative IT solutions that have positive long terms implications on people's lives: from mobile apps that meet the needs of those with physical disabilities to ground-breaking educational apps and emergency response tools. It also showcases more than 500 mobile applications with the world's best top 40 mobile producers gathering in Abu Dhabi to share insights, knowledge and international best practices while discussing the latest trends of innovative mobile content creation.

The Director General at ADSIC added, "It's a great honour to be hosting the World Summit Award again. "The promise of technology is that it can change the lives of everyone – not just the rich, the powerful or the most advanced. Technology offers solutions to some of the most basic issues we face. The issues may be different from country to country, but the spirit of innovation is constant."

Peter A. Bruck, Chairman of WSA Mobile said, "We are pleased to partner with Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre for the third time, as we play a mutual role as strategic partners in fulfilling the promise of the information society through world-class innovation. Abu Dhabi's commitment to digital-enabled growth and global knowledge-sharing over the years is truly inspiring."

Under the theme "Connecting Smart Minds', the three day event aims to connect local content with global innovation by highlighting the ability of mobile technologies to enrich lives and empower communities by bringing together some of the world's finest m-content developers within the framework of the United Nation's World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

World Summit Award (WSA) – Mobile Content 2015 will feature engaging key notes from several international thought leaders, in addition to a series of interactive workshops guaranteeing a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
