Jordan exports of vegetables and fruit last year reach 888,000 tons


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordan's exports of fruits and vegetables reached about 888,000 tons last year, with vegetables accounting for 4.8 percent and fruits 6.1 percent.

According to the Agriculture ministry's assistant secretary general for marketing, Salah Tarawneh, Arab Gulf markets ranked first in the countries importing Jordanian vegetables and fruit with 5.6 percent, followed by the Iraqi market with 3.1 percent, and the Syrian and Lebanese markets with 12.2 percent, while exports for other markets accounted for 3 percent.

The total value of these exports amounted to about JD550 million, an increase of 14 percent from last year, Tarawneh added.
