King opens Zarqa Public Hospital

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II, accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, on Wednesday opened the new Zarqa Public Hospital, which has modern equipment and medical facilities that will provide comprehensive medical services to the citizens of Zarqa.

During a visit to the Zarqa Governorate, Their Majesties also inspected the Princess Muna Elderly Care Home that provides shelter to dozens of elderly women across the Kingdom. The King ordered that the Center be provided with all its needs that would improve the services it offered to this category of people.

The Zarqa Hospital was established following an order by His Majesty after the King realized the extent of the suffering of citizens during a number of visits to the old hospital. The King donated a plot of land for the construction of the hospital to act as an advanced medical facility that would contribute towards the development of the health sector catering to those in the governorate and the neighboring areas.

The King also unveiled a commemorative plaque of the hospital, built at a cost of JD65 million.

The King and the Queen were briefed by Health Minister Ali Hiyasat on the services provided by the new medical facility to the Zarqa citizens.

Their Majesties also toured a number of sections of the hospital and looked into the state of the art medical equipment used there.

Work at the 500-bed hospital, which was constructed on 112 dunums, began in 2007 and was completed in 2014.
