Brazil's Petrobras profits down 9 percent in Q3

(MENAFN) Scandal-hit Brazilian oil titan Petrobras announced logging profit decline in the third-quarter period of 9 percent over the same quarter of 2013, AFP reported.

The state-owned oil company said profits for the cited period reached USD1.2 million in the first earnings report issued since the corruption scandal which broke last year.

The profit marked a drop of 38 percent compared to the second quarter of 2013. However, the firm did not give details on the losses in the value of assets as a result of the scandal.

Brazil's largest company is involved in an investigation into alleged kickbacks for politicians, mainly allies of the government of President Rousseff, a former Petrobras chair.
