Qatar- 'Be Breast Aware' Wall Clock unveiled at Women's Hospital

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As part of a national campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer, the 'Be Breast Aware' Wall Clock was unveiled at Women's Hospital yesterday.

The massive clock, hung in full view at Section 3 waiting area bears the campaign's message 'Be Breast Aware' in beautiful Arabic calligraphy at the centre of the artefact.

Surrounding the message are words of encouragement and empowerment, promoting early detection by being breast aware and acknowledging a woman's ability and strength to protect herself from breast cancer and face it head on. The unveiling was part of the National Cancer Programme's (NCP) activities.

Dr Shaikha Sami Abushaikha, Manager, Special Programme Division, Public Heath Care Corporation, unveiled the clock in the presence of Ghislaine van den Born, Assistant Executive Director, Hospitality, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Fiona Bonas, Director, NCP.

Dr Salha Bujassoum, Medical Oncologist/Hematologist and Director, Breast Cancer Screening, said, "Breast cancer is the most common in Qatar but prevention and early detection can save lives and for that reason we pledge to continue spreading the message of hope and empowerment among the women, with the support of the men of Qatar, while they are visiting our establishment."

NCP launched activities last October across Qatar under its 'Be Breast Aware' campaign. Pink ribbons and posters were distributed in women's retail stores and fitness facilities in Doha.
