(MENAFN) Visit Berlin, the city's tourist service agency, said that the number of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) tourists visiting Berlin has registered an increase by 27 percent compared with the number of 2013, as 10.000 GCC national visited the German capital, Gulf News reported.
The agency said that guests from the Arab countries spent 126.137 nights in Berlin during the January-October period of 2014, up 29.4 per cent over the same period in 2013, adding that the average length of stay of GCC visitors is 3.9 days.
Visit Berlin added that the country is currently seeking to woo medical tourists from the GCC, as well as offering medical students opportunities to study in Berlin, which has more than 80 hospitals.
Berlin is already a popular destination for people in the region seeking medical treatment, with heart surgery and diabetes treatment being the most in demand, with medical tourism accounting for 5 percent of the city's tourism revenue of USD13.55 billion.
