Apple's profit hits record of USD18b on iPhone sales


(MENAFN) Apple reported a profit surge to a corporate record of USD18 billion at the end of last year, driven by booming sales of large-screen models, particularly in China, AFP reported.

The California-based tech giant announce selling its one billionth device powered by its iOS mobile operating system, with its highly anticipated Apple Watch devices on track to begin shipping in April.

The company's quarterly profit hit unprecedented revenue of USD74.6 billion, surpassing the record made by ExxonMobil of USD15.9 billion posted in the second quarter of 2012.

"We'd like to thank our customers for an incredible quarter which saw demand for Apple products soar to an all-time high," chief executive officer (CEO) said in a statement.
