'We are students and are visiting Oman for the first time. We feel introducing one's country through art folk and dance is a great way of connecting with people. The dance forms that we have presented here are performed during ceremonies back home and they all hold a meaning' said Aayesha one of the troupe members.

These dances depict the relationship between man and nature events such as war love and courtship.

The troupe may have returned to Turkey but has left a lasting impression on audiences - a goal achieved.

Zeybek
Performed in western central and southern Anatolia this dance form mimics the movement of a hawk and is named after the Zeybeks - guerrilla fighters who protected people from bandits and tax collectors.

All Zeybek dances have a common characteristic form and rhythm but the positioning of the arms and body differ from region to region.

The dance form follows nine slow beats with occasional variations and symbolises valour and courage.

Horn dance
Performed only by men this dance traces its origins to the earlier fishermen of Black Sea.

Dressed in black costumes with silver trimmings the men dance making swift agile movements.
